My TED Talk

Here is my final TED Talk compiling all of the information found surrounding my Genius Hour project!

I present my own background with outdoor education as well as how I feel it should be included. All of the ideas presented provide a way for teachers to integrate outdoor education into their classrooms in a variety of subjects, without taking students on field trips.

It is up to all educators to motivate students to continue investigating the outdoors and hopefully ignite a passion within them to keep learning about nature. Watch below to hear all of my ideas!

  1. Great TED Talk Mikayla!!

I love the clapping effects that you used in the beginning of your TED Talk. You had a good variety of statistics in the beginning to draw in your listeners. It was awesome how you talked about your experiences with outdoor education. I would have looked into filming somewhere a bit quieter (I know it is difficult in St. Catharine’s with the wind) or edited the sound to make it a little easier to hear you when the wind picks up. I really like how you filmed outside, going along with the outdoor education theme. You gave great examples in your TED Talk about how teachers can incorporate outdoor education in the classroom. Maybe show some examples in your TED Talk and show some of the activities. You made some great cross-curricular references to show educators how they can use outdoor education in multiple subjects. Overall, I really enjoyed your TED Talk! I thought it was very informative and I learned a lot about outdoor education. I am excited to implement some of the activities you mentioned in my own classroom as a future educator. Thanks for sharing!
